In the process of solving this problem, first thing you must do is make sure that you downloaded and installed the appropriate driver for your webcam. You can do this by visiting your webcam manufacturers official website and download the driver specially designed for your Operating System. Also, to get this software, that is compatible with Windows 7, you can try visiting the following official web page.
HP MediaSmart is a very good program. It founds a significant number of old drivers for my HP Pavilion DV8T-1000 that I tried to download. When I want to download them, I discover that HP advises me to download a renamed version of the software and urges anyone trying to update drivers to download the program that is already installed on my laptop. What can I do?

Simply download and install the new version of the program. The old version should be replaced automatically. If not, use Add or Remove Programs feature (Control Panel > Uninstall a program) to remove the utility from your computer. After that, update the drivers following the on-screen instructions. If you don't want to download the latest version of the program, you can update the drivers manually. Navigate to the official web page, select your operating system, click Next and download and install the files.
If your webcam has been installed properly, then start HP MediSmart and the webcam should start automatically. If this doesn't happen, you will need to install the necessary drivers for your webcam (HP Support CD) and then use the application to apply effects, visual elements, record stream, etc. There is no other way because HP MediaSmart works with the built-in HP webcams.
